Land Recognition

Society of Broadcasting Land Recognition

Society of Broadcasting acknowledges Treaty 7 territory—the ancestral and traditional territory of the Blackfoot Confederacy: Kainai, Piikani and Siksika as well as the Tsuu T’ina First Nation and Stoney Nakoda First Nation. We acknowledge the many First Nations, Métis and Inuit. We are grateful for the traditional Knowledge Keepers and Elders who are still with us today and those who have gone before us. We recognize the land as an act of reconciliation and gratitude to those whose territory we reside on or are visiting.

The Society of Broadcasting is a club associated with the Students' Association of Mount Royal University. Mount Royal University is located on Treaty 7 territory. Historically, this land has been inhabited by the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot), Iyarhe Nakoda, Tsuut'ina, and Metis Nations. Due to this, it is important for us to not only recognize, but also appreciate the history of the land that MRU is situated on.
